- What is the problem?
Some sites, such as e-commerce or community blog networks, are highly transactional with a high velocity of new user-generated content and orders for products.
- Why is it a problem?
A daily backup being restored will still result in at least 24 hours of data being lost.
- How do you solve the problem today?
Hourly backups improve the likelihood of recovering more recent data after a site experiences a problem.
- How would you ideally solve the problem?
I can’t solve this directly on Pantheon. I must use external tools like ManageWP or UpdraftPlus.
- How big is the problem (business impact, frequency of impact, who is impacted)
For a WooCommerce site, it depends on sales volume and/or the prices of the items in each order. For big-ticket items, even a few orders would be disastrous if lost, resulting in bad customer experiences and lost revenue from canceled orders. For a blog network or forum-based site, dozens or hundreds of posts and comments/replies could be lost.
